What is Hadoop?

Hadoop is an open-source software framework that supports data storage and processing of large sets of data in an extremely distributed computing environment.  Hadoop is fault-tolerant by allowing multiple clusters of computers to process information parallel to single systems. Hadoop is a part of Apache project sponsored by Apache Software foundation.
