What is Data Integration?

Data Integration is the process of combining data from varied sources into a single unified data set. Data integration begins with the ingestion of data either from a data warehouse, data lake, file-based data, API, or any type of data source. The ingested data then goes through a process of transformation to suit the analytical tool’s algorithmic requirements. The end goal of any data integration solution is to provide actionable business insights.

Data integration is developed to satisfy data consumption requirements of applications and business processes.

Data Integration is managed by Chief Data Engineer, Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO). The team usually consists of data analysts, data engineers, and MIS executives.
